Most children don’t like bedtime. They will miss out on extended evening fun. Imagine how young Frog feels when it’s time to sleep for the WHOLE winter! Author Dev Petty has imagined this, and she shares that in “I Don’t Want to Go to Sleep,” ably illustrated by Mike Boldt. In fact, this is the fourth book in the Frog series, and they are all clever books that may just be destined to be classics.

Frog is excited about winter. He wants to skate and drink cocoa and see the snow. He’s heard all about it from his friends. So when owl explains that frogs hibernate, and his dad is already hibernating, Frog in not a happy young guy. Owl patiently explains why frog can’t curl up in front of the fireplace like cat, and why he can’t play in the snow like rabbit. The illustrations are superb — frog encased in an ice cube and burnt to a crisp in front of the fireplace.

The final solution shows what good friends do when faced with a problem. They help solve it!
