Volunteers heartbroken that two special dogs to be killed tomorrow at shelter

Volunteers are desperate to save two dogs who are on the list to be killed tomorrow when their kennels are needed. Cedes is a sweet senior dog who appears to have had a difficult life with little love. Yet she is sweet and affectionate. The other dog, Karma, has known only love in her home. But when her owner fell and went into rehab, the foster who was keeping her brought her to the shelter when the owner was not able to take Karma back.

Karma is adorable. Watch her video and see how beautifully she is trained to sit on command. She takes treats very gently and watches her visitor with her lovely blue eyes.

Because Karma’s owner relinquished her to the county, she has no hold time. Karma is a young dog — only two years old. She is listed as a cattle dog mix and gets along with other dogs. She also appears to be house trained, and she is heartworm negative!

If you can save Karma, you must send an email to rescuepets@hillsboroughcounty.org and CC rescuemetampa@yahoo.com by 9:00 am tomorrow (September 8, 2016). In the subject write: DO NOT EUTH Karma ID#A1650634. In the body of the email include contact information and your name. You must be willing to pick Karma up by 3:00 pm tomorrow.

Karma is ID#A1650634. There is more information about how to save Karma on her Facebook thread.

Cedes is the sweet senior girl whose life is also at stake. Cedes is affectionate and gentle. The animal control officer who brought her into the shelter notes who “very sweet” she is. She has a microchip but when the owner of record was called, they said that an “ex” had the dog. No one came to save her — no one loved her enough to care that she might end her life in a county shelter with strangers holding her down while she was killed. It’s heartbreaking that Cedes has obviously never known real love in her life. It’s not too late for her, though. The shelter needs to get an email from someone willing to adopt, foster or rescue Cedes.
