Volunteers frantic that sick young dog to be killed tomorrow

Update: Angel was killed. No one stepped up for her and this poor young dog — so neglected in life — had it ended all too soon. She never knew a loving home; she never knew what it was to be spoiled; she never got to sleep on a bed. The volunteers are heartbroken.

Angel has really had a tough life, and tragically, just over one year after her life began, it’s going to end. Angel is on the kill list for tomorrow, and without an email from a rescue or adopter, she will be killed anytime after 9:00 am when her kennel is needed. A volunteer who visited her took Angel out of her kennel — and “fell madly in love with her.” She described her as a “total little angel,” hence the name Angel.

But it’s Angel’s last call. Her life has not been a good one. She is very thin and has two masses on her hind legs. She is under two years old, so she needs veterinary care. Unfortunately, whoever had Angel also neglected to provide her with heartworm preventative, so Angel is heartworm positive. She is young, though, so with treatment she will be healthy.

Watch her video. It shows a dog who calmly stands while she gets petted by a volunteer. On the same video she can also be seen wagging her tail at a visitor. She is beautiful, but way too skinny. The veterinarian also noted that she has a fever and they don’t know why. She was started on antibiotics, but she really needs medical care.

Angel is housebroken and an extremely sweet dog. She urgently needs networking if she is to make it out of the shelter alive. Please share her story.

Angel and the other dogs at Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center are all in great danger. The group that gave each and every dog a chance at rescue and adoption has had its hands tied by the county and shelter management. These shelter dogs are not being networked as completely as they were before the shelter management cut off access to the shelter information. It has been two months since the shelter changed their software, but they still have not provided Rescue Me Tampa with the details they need to rescue more dogs. They don’t know if dogs are rescued or killed, they don’t know important details including medical records about the dogs. Read more about this at “Dogs are needlessly dying; rescue group needs information to save them.” Please share Angel’s story! It’s her only chance to get out of the shelter alive!

There is more information about how to rescue her on her Facebook thread. Angel is ID#A1647658. Angel is urgent — if her kennel is needed tomorrow, she will be killed anytime after 9:00 am.
